The Miracle that will keep on giving....
It started off as another normal Sunday. We watched some football and made some plans to visit Chuck E. Cheese for a friend's birthday party that evening. But, little did we know that waking up on Sunday morning, October the 7th.....would be the last time that we ever would wake up as DINKS (that's Dual Income No Kids). Let's focus on the 'no kids' part for now!! We haven't decided about the work situation as of yet!!
We did get a leading indicator that morning as Sri's tummy dropped. I frantically raced to the garage and made sure the car seat was installed. Let's check the Overnight bag....yep, most of the vitals are in there. Ok...we're good. Or, were we??
At about 10:50 PM that night, Sri poked me in bed and said the felt something wet. I told her to go to bed. About five minutes later....she poked me again and confirmed that she felt something wet. Ok..hmm...this is not normal. yeah...you think!!?? We put a plastic cover on the bed and lay down again. For the third time...she poked me and said her tummy is paining a little. Wait...let me check the date. Hmm.....we're still a couple weeks out and the book promised me that we had some more time after the stomach dropped!!
Well...I could write forever on the next few hours, so I'll try to wrap it up soon. The series of events that culminated on 5:21 AM PST on Monday, October 8th were met with incredible strength and grit. Srivalli and our baby BOY, Akhil, were a testimony of courage. Nine long months of pregnancy came to a incredible halt and everything changed in that instant. We got introduced to baby Akhil that monday morning and we were on our way to The Journey.
Akhil Vikas Chandra was born weighing 7 pounds 10 ounces and measured in a 19.5 inches. He came out in 5 hours of labor and had a head full of hair. Mommy was great and resilient through the end. As we held our son together in those first precious moments, it all felt so good.......in a way that no book or person could ever explain in words. What an incredible start. Our baby finally arrived!!!
